Description | The Hyde division was created in 1885 out of the East division of Cheshire. It comprised the civil parishes of Bosden (to 1900), Bredbury, Brinnington (part, to 1902), Compstall (from 1897), Godley, Hattersley, Hazel Grove cum Bramhall (part, from 1900), Hollingworth, Hyde, Marple, Matley, Mottram, Newton [near Hyde], Offerton (to 1900), Romiley, Stayley (part, to 1894), Tintwistle, Torkington (to 1900), and Werneth (to 1897). In 1918 the Hyde division was abolished and divided between the divisions of Macclesfield, and Stalybridge and Hyde. |
