Administrative HistoryThe company began life as Unsworth and Richmond (incorporated in September 1890) when W Unsworth, a gas engineer based in Warrington, entered into business with E W I Richmond Ltd. of Academy Street, Warrington. It became Richmond and Company Ltd in August 1891 and then Richmond Gas Stove and Meter Co Ltd in 1901, the same year it acquired G Glover & Co (manufacturers of gas meters since 1860) and G Newton & Co. (makers of meters from 1869). and moved to Grappenhall, Warrington. Richmond Gas Stove and Meter Co became Radiation Ltd which then expanded to become Richmond Gas Stoves - New World in 1920 having acquired the John Wright and Eagle Range, Richmond Gas Stove and Meter Co and Davis Gas Stoves Co.

In 1972 New World Domestic Appliances was acquired by Stoves Plc and then in 1997 Stoves was acquired by Glen Dimplex
