Description | PETITION by the Burgesses and freeholders of the Manor of Frodsham to H.R.H. Prince Charles, concerning their rights of common and other liberties pertaining to the Manor; they allege that, because of the possibility of the Manor being reunited with the Earldom, Sir Thomas Savage had been seeking to enlarge the boundaries of the Manor of HELLESBIE [Helsby] at its expence, thus prejudicing the rights both of H.R.H. and of his petitioners; owing to Sir Thomas' great influence in the county, they cannot expect an indifferent jury at the trial of their rights; they therefore petition that H.R.H. should purchase the Manor at the price given for it by Sir Thomas, and thus reunite it with the Earldom, and that meanwhile he appoint commissioners to hear their grievances. Enclosed: List of the rights and grievances of the petitioners (as above no. DCH/F/174). Paper. |
