Description | ARTICLES OF AGREEMENT (Contemporary copy) between Rt. Hon. John Earl Rivers and Rt. Hon. Thomas Ld. Viscount Colchester and Savage of Rocksavage [Rock Savage], his son and heir apparent; whereby
1) the sd. Earl agrees to convey to the said Viscount, the lease of the Forest of DE LA MAR and BRADLEY ORCHARD called Pickes and Williamsons Farm, for his present maintenance in case the marriage between the said Viscount and Mistress Elizabeth Scroope shall proceed, whereof the sd. Viscount is to receive no profit during the life of the said Earl. 2) the sd. Earl is to sottle the lease of the tithes of FRODSHAM, and lands of the annual value of £100 on the sd. Viscount, to be enjoyed after the death of Countess Dowager Rivers, whereof the sd. Viscount to receive no profit during the life of the sd. Earl. 3) the sd. Earl is to join in settling a jointure of £1,000 a year on Mistress Scroope out of the lands given in the particular, to be enjoyed after the death of the sd. Earl. 4) the lands in the particular are to be discharged of the £400 a year which the Earl has power to charge, and of all provisions for younger children, except an annuity of £100 to John Savage and £100 to Richard Savage, younger sons of the sd. Earl. 5) the sd. Viscount agrees to pay to Lady Jane, Mary and Katherine, daughters of the sd. Earl, in case they shall not be married and provided for by the Earl in his life, or to such as shall be unmarried or unprovided for at his death, the sum of £3,000, to be paid at the age of 21 or 6 months after their respective marriages or to such as shall be unmarried or unprovided for at the death of the sd. Earl, within 1 year after his death.
