| Description | FURTHER CASE & OPINION of Mr. Montagu Smith, relating to RUNCORN Ferry, with particular reference to the Marquis of Cholmondeley's claim, as owner of the Ferry, to land and embark passengers, and also, as Lord of the Manor, to the soil of the foreshore itself - his title is threatened by various acts of ownership on the part of the Bridgewater Trustees, e.g. in the erection of 3 new landing places; discusses question of erection of the 3 landing places by the Bridgewater Trustees; the Marquis is now willing to give up his claim to the foreshore on having his rights of access to the Ferry recognised, concerning the assurance given by the Bridgewater Trustees that the erection of the landing places shall not prejudice any rights which Lord Cholmondeley may have, and that the trustees and their agents will not obstruct the passing and repassing of passengers and other traffic along the road to the landing place and shore.
