DescriptionLETTER (copy) from William Jones to Richard Groom, in answer to the above [No. DCH/E/228A-5]; states that the custom of the Attorneys' sharing the fees on each surrender with the Agent, was established long before his time; relates that Mr. Ashley's father was indebted to Mr. Stephens, the previous Agent, in about £80, and suggests that this balance should be deducted from Mr. Ashley's claim for copies of the Court Rolls; he is willing to forgo the balance due to himself, and any further share of the fees on surrenders, if so directed by Lord Cholmondeley.
