DescriptionDEED OF EXCHANGE whereby Richard son of William son of John Hankooson de Clyfton, grants to Sir John Savage, lord of Clyfton, his heirs and assigns, an empty tenement and 11 acres of arable land lying in the lordship of the said John Savage in his township of CLYFTON [Clifton], as they have been anciently enclosed and measured, as is more fully contained in a certain original charter from one Geoffrey son of Geoffrey de Dutton, formerly lord of Chedle and Clyfton, to one Adam called Turnour de Frodesham and his heirs, in exchange for ¾ of 3 burgages and 3½ acres of arable land in the burgh and lordship of Frodesham which the said Sir John Savage Kt., lord of Clyfton, formerly had by gift and feoffment of Margery formerly wife of Hugh de Gropenhale de Halton, one of the sons and heir of Richard le Skynner de Frodesham. Witnesses: William Troutbek, then chamberlain of Chester, John de Dutton, son of Sir Peter de Dutton Kt., Sir Geoffrey de Werburton Kt., Richard de Aston and John de Netherton of Frodesham. Given in the feast of St. Michael the Archangel, 23 Henry VI. Seal missing from tag. Indenture. Parchment.
