Title	Letter (copy) from Earl of Cholmondeley to the Duke of Newcastle
Date	1745
Description	requesting orders to sound rivers in Lancaster, Preston and Warrington and to explore passes and roads in that area. Reports on fortification of Chester and the building of a barracks with space for 250 men. He stresses that it would be detrimental to break down the bridge lying 16-18 miles from Warrington as it was an important route out of Lancashire
