DescriptionLEASE for 21 years by John Dannes, knight, one of the Council of the King, and John Hales, a Baron of the Exchequer, General Surveyor of the King's lands, to Richard Norlegh, junior, ----- the King's MANOR OF NORBURY and ALTEHURST [Holtridge} with appurtenances and the King's Mill there with all the lands, tenements, rent and services, commodities, easements and other appurtenances whatsoever belonging to the said Manor or Mill or either (all of which are parcel of the King's lands in Cheshire and in tenure and occupation of the assigns of Richard Cholmundelogh, esq., by virtue of Latters Patent given at Chester 1. Jan. 2.H.VIII [1510/11] for the term of 40 years), except and reserving to the King and his heirs all woods, underwoods, wards, marriages, mines and quarries in, over or growing on the premises; to be held, except as above excepted, from Michaelmas 1550 after the expiration of the said Ltrs. Patent or delivery of the premises by said R. Cholmandelegh to the King or his heirs; at yearly rents of £10. 6s. 8d. and 6s. 8d. at the usual feasts in equal portions. Richard Norlegh covenants to maintain in proper repair the manor and other premises. The King and his heirs will find sufficient mill-stones for the mill. Given on 14. Nov. 27. H. VIII.
