Administrative History | John Finney, the eldest son of Samuel Finney, served as a Cornet under his father in a troop of horse organised in support of William of Orange in 1688. For a while he stayed in the army, attaining the rank of Captain, by which title he was known for the rest of his life. In 1693 he married Jane, daughter of Thomas Latham of Haythorne, Esq. In the same year he took up residence at Fulshaw Hall, but in 1701 he sailed with his father to Pennsylvania. He returned to England for good in 1711 and died in 1728. |
