Administrative History | Edward Greenall was the son of Thomas Greenall and his wife Mary, nee Turton. He married Betty Pratt, of Liverpool, in 1791. They had children Thomas (1792-1848), Peter (1798-1848), John (1802-1850), Richard, later Archdeacon of Chester (1806-1867), Gilbert (1806-1894), Isabella (d1860) who married John Whitley, and Mary who married George Irlam. At the time of his death, apart from his interests in the breweries, he owned estates in Eccleston, Hardshaw, Sutton in Prescot, Southworth with Croft, Houghton, Middleton, Arbury, Winwick, Orford and Witton; he also owned a cotton mill in Eccleston, St Helens, occupied by Hadfield and Frost . The brewery interests were devised jointly to Thomas, Peter and Gilbert. |
