Administrative HistoryThe Earl of Shrewsbury was recorded in the Return of Owners of Land in England and Wales (1873) as owner of 8640 acres in Cheshire. His estates fell into 3 principal blocks: Little Budworth; Oxton, including lands in Barnston, Brimstage, Prenton, Raby and Thornton; and one to the north east of Chester in Dunham on the Hill, Mickle Trafford, Picton, Hoole and Upton
