| Administrative History | The moiety of Agden came to the Venables as the result of a settlement of her lands of Ellen, widow of Thomas Warburton of Agden on William Venables and Ellen, his wife in 1401 (see DVA 1/1). The estate remained in the Venables family (augmented by later marriages - see introduction to title deeds section) until it terminated in the direct line in George Venables of Agden, whose sole daughter and heiress, Elizabeth, married Philip Touchet Chetwode of Oakley bart, in 1732. |
