Description | Jane Done (d. 1662) by her will left her estate, which comprised the Manors of Utkinton, Willington and Tarporley, to her sister Mary, wife of John Crewe and the heirs of her body, with remainder to the 5 sons of her other sister Eleanor, wife of Richard Arderne. Elizabeth Crewe, Mary's daughter, married Devereux Knightley, and died without living heir in 1715. Following an award in Chancery in 1725, Jane Done's property was divided into 6 shares and awarded to the sons of Eleanor. One of these was James Arderne, Dean of Chester, who died in 1691, leaving all his property to the Dean and Chapter. In 1876 the estate was approximately 450 acres |
