Administrative History | The Cheshire and Warrington Local Access Forum was the fore-runner of the Cheshire Local Access Forum, prior to the Local Government re-organisation of 2009.
The purpose of Local Access Forums is to encourage and enable public access to the countryside for recreation and enjoyment. They are statutory bodies set up as part of the Countryside and Rights of Way Act (2000) to advise councils and Natural England on putting the new legislation into effect and are independent of the councils.
The Cheshire Local Access Forum was, in turn, superceded by the Cheshire East Local Access Forum. There is also a Cheshire West and Chester Local Access Forum |
