Administrative History | The Corporate Overview and Scrutiny Committee has all relevant overview and scrutiny powers under Section 21 of the Local Government Act 2000. Its membership includes the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of all the Council’s overview and scrutiny committees. Its tasks include: scrutiny of the Council’s corporate core; ensuring the other overview and scrutiny committees operate in a coherent and integrated manner; acting as an informal discussion forum with the Cabinet regarding the work programmes and priorities of all the overview and scrutiny committees; undertaking work which does not fall within the remit of any of the overview and scrutiny committees; deciding on which committee take the lead on cross-cutting issues or undertaking the task itself; driving forward the Council’s overview and scrutiny function; acting as a sounding board for matters of common interest across all the overview and scrutiny committees and, where necessary, reviewing their workloads; co-ordinating the formal consultation response to the draft budget proposals on behalf of all the overview and scrutiny committees. |
