| Administrative History | The Executive met from 21 May 2008 until it was decommissioned 21 May 2015. Its functions were then taken over by Cabinet.
The Executive had responsibility for proposing the budget and the policy framework, consulting on, developing monitoring , reviewing and advising the Council in respect of these.
The Executive was responsible for all decisions relating to the implementation of Council policy.
The Executive made decisions on expenditure within the budget set by the Council and in accordance with the Financial Regulations and could vire budgets within limits as decided from time to time by the council
The Executive monitored the lawful, proper and efficient conduct of the Council’s financial affairs, including the extent to which budgets and financial policies were being met, requiring or approving any remedial action to be taken where it considered this to be necessary and appropriate
The Executive:
Approved, monitored and reviewed the Council’s human resources policies
Approved, monitored and reviewed the provision of services to the Council delivered by external or internal suppliers
Advised the Council on strategic matters in relation to corporate governance, community governance and community strategy
Monitored and reviewed issues relating to area working
The Executive carried out all functions in respect of the organisation of schools under the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and any subsequent amending legislation
The Executive exercised the Council’s emergency functions in the event of a major emergency incident in the area, or in a neighbouring area, if it affected or might affect the residents, business or economy of the area, subject to the urgent action provisions being used as necessary.
The Executive made recommendations to the Council on any topic when directed by theCouncil
The Executive discharged all operational functions of the Council, except so far as specifically allocated to full Council or any other committee or sub-committee |
