Administrative History | The society was formed in 1913 to secure and maintain the free, uninterrupted and responsible use of all public rights of way in North East Cheshire and Southern Greater Manchester. Early prominent people in the society included Dr Hopkinson, Mr Pilkington, Mr Roby (President), Mr Farish (Vice President), Mr Steel (Secretary), Mr Hopkins (Treasurer) and Mr Billsborough. In 1921 the society affiliated with the Peak and Northern Footpaths Society. Around 2000, the society had about 50 members and organised a 5 mile walk each Sunday morning. |
