| Administrative History | Middlewich Urban District Council was established in 1894 and was divided into 4 wards. Previously it had been governed by Middlewich Local Board from 1869 to 1894. In 1894 part of Newton was included in the Urban District Council. In 1936 a further portion of Kinderton township and part of Tetton civil parish were added. In 1974 it amalgamated with neighbouring urban and rural district councils to form Congleton Borough Council. [See: LDC list for post 1974 records]. |
