Administrative History | St. Andrews Church dates back to 1892 when the "Mission Room of the Good Shepherd" in Frances Street was used. This was later replaced with the "Tin Church" which was erected on the site which is now St Andrew's Scout Hu in an area of Crewe developing with the coming of the Railway. The parish of St Andrew was created in 1926 and in 1932 plans ware made and work started on a new brick church. Work ceased in 1939 at the start of World War II and a wooden end was placed on the partly completed Church. Work on the church recommenced in 1959 and the wooden end was replaced with with a brick construction, reduced from the original plans and completed in 1965. In 1994,
In 1994, the Parishes of St. John's and St. Andrew's combined to form the parish of St. Andrew with St John. St John's was declared redundant. Some artefacts from St. John's Church were transferred to St. Andrew's and in 1999 four of the stained glass windows from St Johns were also installed at St Andrew's. |
