| Administrative History | Opened in 1844 as a chapel to Eastham. In 1871 it became a parish church serving Netherpool, Overpool and part of Whitby. In 1971 the parish was united with Stoak and Thornton-le-Moors. The church closed in 1994, and was replaced as the parish church by Whitby St. Thomas, which had opened as a chapel to Christ Church in 1909.
The chapel of St. Francis, Overpool, opened in 1937 and closed in 1992.
The chapel of St. Andrew, Stanney Grange,opened in 1970, and was run jointly with the Methodist Church until 1974. It closed in 1993. |
