Richard Viscount Lumley, Sir Christofer Nevill of Newton St. Loe co.Somerset, kt. of the Order of Bath, Sir Henry Henn of London, kt. and bt., Henry Jackson of London, gentleman, surviving feoffees of the estate given to charitable uses by Henry Smith late of London, esq., deceased Recites that Henry Smith conveyed most of his real and personal estate for the relief and setting to work of poor people according to uses declared in deed, 26 Jan 1631/2; that the feoffees purchased and are seised of part of the manor of Tolleshunt D'Arcy al. Tolleshunt Tregrose co.Essex late in occ. of Sir Christofer Nevill at a rent of £140, £5 of the profits to be used for the poor of St. Mary's parish, the rest for other parishes, as stated in deed, 20 Dec 1641. Feoffees now declare that the estate is vested in them in trust for the benefit of the poor of St. Mary's parish inter alia, and that the churchwardens and overseers may resort to premises for payment of £5 yearly and may lease premises as allowed by Henry Smith.
