Administrative History	St. Peter's opened in 1844 as a parish church serving part of Higher Bebington (formerly in Bebington). St. Barnabas' Chapel opened in 1895 and closed in 1978. For later records, see also Higher Bebington parish. The parish church, St. Peter's, suffered extensive bomb damage as a result of enemy action in March 1941, and until it was re-opened in 1957 all services were held in St. Barnabas' church.
