Purchased from Edward Rigg in 1907.
This site was originally occupied by a brewery but after its purchase by the Rev. Arthur Rigg, first principal of Chester College, it is listed in Phillipson and Golders' Directory for Chester, 1878-9. as occupied by James Rigg, engineer and ironfounder, his father's partner in the family concern. By 1907 it was used as a timber yard. The Corporation acquired it for the purposes of building George Street Council School which was opened in 1908 and closed in 1948. It is now the Chester Teachers' Centre
