Thomas Scott prisoner in the Northgate to be set free and allowed to go at large where he wishes. Notes of recognizances taken before the Mayor, 31st May, 1605: Joan, wife of Thomas Harvy to appear at the next Crownmote to answer those things objected against her on behalf of the king, and not to go away without licence. Pledges: Thomas Wrighte, Robert Savadge. John Morris likewise. Pledges: John Tyrer and Richard Vawes. Thomas Duffe, or a sufficient deputy for him, to prosecute with effect a bill of felony against [ ] Harvy, junior, Joan his wife and John Morris. f.159. Pleas of the court of Crownmote held before Edward Dutton, esq., Mayor, on Monday, 25th March 2 Jas. [1605]. Hugh Piers and Darbie Morris late of Chester, mariners indicted for the felonious theft of [fifteen?] knives, worth 7s., two jugs worth 6d., a cap worth 6d., one pair of breeches worth 5s., one pair of stockings worth 2s., one garment worth 12d. and one rapier worth 2s., of the goods of certain men unknown. Non cul' per priam Margin: The jury say that they are not guilty and they have not fled. Rice ap Shoone, late of Llandernogh, co. Denbigh, labourer, indicted of felony and of the theft of one purse and 3d. in money from Elizabeth Annion, wife of John Annion. Non cul' per priam Margin: The jury say that he is not guilty and he has not fled. James Hudson late of Chester, mariner, indicted of felony for the theft of seven dozen tallow candles and twenty pounds of virgin wax worth 20s. of the goods of Thomas Harvy and Gerrard H[ ], merchants. Non cul' per priam Margin: The jury say that he is not guilty and he has not fled. John Holland late of Chester, shoemaker, indicted of felony for the theft of one iron [ ] worth 12d and one chair worth [ ] of the goods of Robert Thorneton of Boughton. Non cul' per priam Margin: The jury say that he is not guilty and he has not fled. Therefore judgment was given that he should go acquitted of the said felony. 18th April, released, and Thomas Hutton, yeoman, promised payment of his fees within one month following. Note of receipt from Mr. Jefferayes by the hands of Peter Pennante on 5th Feb., 1605, of 50s. to be given to poor maids' marriages, and now delivered to Mr. Leicester, Treasurer; and of 50s. on 18th April, 1606, for the same purpose, and due from the rent of the lands chargeable by the gift of Valentine Broughton. Memo. that Thomas Goose doth mainprise Richard Richardson alias Weaver upon a recovery of £5.5s.2d. at the suit of Thomas Gamull, Alderman, as executor of Richard Bavand, Alderman, deceased, until the next Portmote Court. 20th Oct., 1604.
