Description | Jan. 8th. Election of George Calcott, merchant, as Councilman, in place of John Fysher, gentleman., lawyer. The auditors are given until Feb. 2nd to submit their report. Henry Harries, weaver, to be admitted, he already having been admitted into the Weavers' Company; the latter to pay 40/- for thus infringing a former order. Ralph Done, Esq. to be admitted, in consideration of his generosity in supplying venison to Mayors and Sheriffs. Jan. 28th. Peter Newall refuses to show the Assembly his licence for the export of leather and calves' skins, but agrees to show it privately to the Mayor and Recorder. The inhabitants of Eastgate Street to be permitted to move the gutter into the middle of the street, provided that this does not interfere with the work on the conduit, and that Mr. Saunders, in charge of the work, gives his consent. The auditors are given an extra fortnight to prepare their report. William Sampsonne, clockmaker, to be admitted, in return for making a clock with chimes and a dial for St. Peter's, the work to be completed before admission. Thomas Whitby, carpenter, to be admitted gratis in respect of his poverty, and of his previous employment by the City in the mayorality of Richard Bavand.
