Richard Birkhened and Peter Warburton, the City's representatives in the next Parliament, are commissioned to make special efforts in certain suits (obtaining of authority for the levying of fines, assurances of lands, and the obtaining of the custom of Dover Pier). Thomas Lyniall, merchant, and David Lloid, draper are appointed to become suitors to the Privy Council for the Dover Pier customs. The Assize for ale and beer is given. No member of the Assembly is to put in a word for those breaking the assize. (fine, 10/-). Favourable consideration to be given to Roger Darwall, glover, who was delayed in the Isle of Man by contrary winds and thus forfeited a recognizance. The Treasurers to keep the House of Correction etc. in repair until some substantial person can be found to take it over. Discussed how the half year's salary owing to Mr. Sanderton is to be paid. Thomas Lyniell to have a three year lease of the buildings on the south end of Dee Bridge, rent free, on condition he repair the buildings forthwith. The petition of Richard Bavand, Alderman, to have a fee farm of the "tonne" [towne?] for building purposes, to be considered. The Mayor to give a verbal reply to the Privy Council, refusing permission for some poor person to have a gathering in the City. Petitions for admission from Robert Thornton and Thomas Allen, embroiderer, to be considered. Richard Looker, tallowchandler, to be imprisoned and fined for presenting a slanderous petition against one of the late Sheriffs. (The petition written by Thomas Penteny). Peter Richardson, cutler, to be imprisoned until he make a written apology, for interrupting the elections; on the nomination of Henry Hamnet for the office of Sheriff, he apparently loudly compared him to Henry Houghton.
