Description | Copy of the Settlement by the Privy Council, of the dispute between the Mere Merchants and Merchant Retailers (over calves' skins, and more generally). The Mere Merchants to retain their charter from Queen Mary, but Retailers to be permitted to enter their Company. Customs Officials are to be instructed to observe the terms of the Settlement (and to record the amount of calves' skins exported), and the Settlement is to be displayed in the Customs House to avoid further dispute. |
