TitleClaim to Eastgate; admission; petitions

DescriptionThe claim of Sir Christopher Hatton to part of the Eastgate, is discussed. The claim is considered to have been based on wrong information; Hatton's local officials, Mr. John Knight and Mr. Nicoll, are to be asked to inspect the gate, or, failing them, the Mayor, Recorder and Justices are to answer Hatton as well as they can.
Robert Lloid, servant to Dr. Yale, Chancellor of Chester, to be admitted paying 5 marks. Alderman William Bird undertakes payment.
Christopher Conway, administrator of the goods of William Mutton, goldsmith, claims and is granted £4 expended by Mutton.
Dawby again petitions, and is again referred to the Treasurers.
The Sheriffs allege Thomas Aldersay, merchant, to have sold a hogshead of train for one Symon Malone, a merchant stranger; the case to be investigated.
Randle Eaton petitions again to be restored to his former position; deferred until the end of the year.
Jasper Gillam, lately pardoned for killing a man in his own defence, to be restored to his former position.
At the suggestion of John Eaton, late under-Keeper of the Gaol, resolved that the two posts of under-Keeper and Sheriffs' Yeoman, at present both held by Humfrey Yonge, to be in future held separately.
