DescriptionWilliam Saunderson, plumber, (reference to his pumping of water to the houses of Richard Bavand, John Ratcliffe, and others,), John Powell, married to a freeman's daughter, John Ratcliffe the younger, apprentice to his father, Jeffrey Wareton, mariner, George Colmes, mariner, Phillip Cottingham, housewright, Edward Newby, weaver, William Greenfeild, smith, Richard Cowley of Handbridge (servant to George Beverley,), and George Blinston, baker, to be admitted paying respectively either 40/- or 5 marks, Ratcliffe paying as an apprentice.
The petitions deferred, of Thomas Thropp, sergeant-at-mace, for a fee farm of a barn in Eccleston Lane, and of Lewis Johnes [silkweaver] and Randle Fernall [Fernaugh] for twenty-one year leases of their dwelling houses.
Edward Kilshe/Gilson, to have a fine on two bonds of £40 to keep the peace, forfeited through negligence, reduced to 40/-.
The petition refused of Ellen Geste, widow, for restoration of three stolen pewter dishes, as she did not herself prosecute.
The petition of John Preece, cooper, to be releived from the position of porter on account of old age, referred to the Mayor.
The petition rejected of William Sherrington, for a toll of ½d. on every calf brought to market, in return for keeping the market clean.
(ZA/B/1/246). The petitions deferred of Robert Hill, John Poole and Rauf Modesley, shearmen, for fee farms of their barns at the gorsestacks.
The proposal referred to the Mayor and his bretheren, that Mr. Lawton be retained as City's Counsel.
Not decided, whether to maintain Mr. Harrison, preacher.
