TitleOrder re barley, malt and brewing trade

Description(William Goodman, Mayor.).
To prevent the engrossing of the market in barley (which has led to a serious rise in price), for the purpose of making malt on a commercial scale, no person to sell malt for brewing, nor to brew except for the needs of his own household; the regulation to apply to all inhabitants, freemen and foreigners, (penalty, forfeiture of the malt, half to the informer and half to the Sheriffs, and a fine of 20/- to the Common Box.). The order not to come into force until after Christmas next, to permit those holding stocks of malt to dispose of them.
