TitleRaising of three companies of foot soldiers; money for defence of City; continuation of watch at the Pentice; appointment

DescriptionIn consideration of the dangers to the City and the necessity for its defence, it was ordered that three companies of foot soldiers should be raised and armed; that William Wright, Alderman, and John Whitter, apothecary, should be Captains of the two Companies, Mr Richard Bridge and Mr Edward Burroughs, Lieutenant and Ensign to Captain Wright, and Mr Thomas Fernihaugh and Mr William Street, Lieutenant and Ensign to Captain Whitter.
It was orderd that the monies due within the City upon the monthly assessment made by Act of Parliament should be levied and disposed of, by the Mayor's order, for the defence of the City. Members of the Assembly were to bring in their monies to Mr William Wright on that day.
The watch at the Pentice was to be continued and the Mayor should appoint the Captain of the Watch.
All the acts of the Mayor and Justices of the Peace for the defence of the City were approved.
John Whittle, ironmonger, was appointed Commissary for all the City companies.
