TitleFines; petition; loans; payment of dues
Date8th Feb 1660[/61]
DescriptionFines for absence were imposed as on August 10th last.
Upon their petition Timothy Davies, draper, John Partington, mercer, John Smith, baker, and Robert Denteth (Daintey), merchant, were each granted interest-free loans of £25 for ten years from the bequest of Sir Thomas White, late Alderman of the City of London.
Since several persons to whom Sir Thomas White's monies had been lent had kept the loans too long, while others had broken the conditions by selling ale and beer by retail, it was ordered that all these persons should repay Sir Thomas White's monies to the Treasurers.
(ZA/B/2/131v) The yearly exhibition of £25 at Oxford, bequeathed by Robert Offley, was conferred upon Edward Reynolds, student and undergraduate of Brasenose College, son of Edward Reynolds, draper, deceased, a Councilman.
It was ordered that Richard Minshull, Alderman, should pay to the Treasurers £6: 16s: 0d. formerly received by him from some of the Councilmen in lieu of their haunch feasts. Those Councilmen who had not paid 13s: 4d. each, in lieu of their haunch feasts, were to make payment to Mr Sheriff Taylor. Persons who were or had been Leavelookers were to pay 5s. each.
Mr Thomas Worrall, Usher of the Free School, alleged that £27 was due to him by virtue of an Assembly Order of 30th July, 1658. It was ordered that he should be paid his due.
