DescriptionSir Richard Grosvenor, bart., was admitted to the freedom, and was elected an Alderman in the stead of Richard Broster, deceased. He took the oaths and subscribed the declaration on the following 9th January.
Owen Ellis, mercer, elected Councilman in the stead of Alexander Bird, deceased. He took the oaths and subscribed the declaration.
Henry Hughes petitioned to be admitted to the freedom. Upon reading a letter of commendation from Robert Viscount Cholmondeley, Sir Richard Grosvenor, bart., Sir George Warburton, kt. and bart., Sir Robert Cotton, bart., Sir Jefferey Shakerley, kt., Thomas Cholmondeley, Henry Leigh and Thomas Leigh, esquires, it was decided that he should be admitted. He was to pay £4.
Randle Richardson, beerbrewer, describing his great poverty, desired payment for timber which he had delivered for the City's use. It was ordered that he should have £4.
(ZA/B/2/150v) A petition from John Chamberlaine and other children of John Chamberlaine, late of Sutton, deceased, was referred to the Treasurers, who were to report to the next Assembly.
The Company of Joiners, Carvers and Turners complained of infringements of the rights and privileges of their company and asked either for redress or for liberty to seek remedy at law. It was declared that they might take their remedies at law.
