DescriptionThe accounts of Richard Wright, Alderman, concerning the repair of the Northgate, were read and allowed. He had disbursed £221: 11s: 2½d, of which sum he had received £198: 11s: 7d. It was ordered that the Treasurers should pay him the remainder of £22: 19s: 7½d. They were also to pay a total of £33: 10s: 4d for work and materials at the prison to Reignold Woods, smith, Thomas Carter, joiner, Henry Johnson, Thomas Haukshaw, plumber, and Nathaniel Bevan.
It was acknowledged that £65: 11s. was owing to Henry Lloyd, the Mayor, for monies which he had disbursed on the City's account to poor travellers and otherwise (ZA/B/2/184v). It was ordered that the money due to the City upon the accounts of Alderman Ellis, deceased, and Alderman Yong, Treasurers, should be paid the Mayor, and that the residue of the debt should be paid to him in the following summer out of the revenue of the Roodee.
It was ordered that every person admitted to the Common Council should give a piece of plate worth at least 40s.
Mr Randle Bennett was asked to prepare a convenient rate to be laid upon the inhabitants for payment of a scavenger.
It was ordered that Sir Peter Stanley, bart., should pay to the Sheriffs the interest already due for the £250 of Owen Jones' legacy in his hands, and should provide new security; other wise the present bond would be put in suit.
The petition of Brian Bolland was read but not granted for the reasons given in the counter-petition of William Wright, gentleman
It was agreed that Robert Okell's petition should be considered at the next Assembly.
Lady Mary Calveley was to be granted a fee-farm of the row before her house in Bridgestreete, to be enclosed and built on, for the payment of £20 within a month.
John Johnson, innholder, promised to pay £20 a year for the toll of the Bridgegate.
