DescriptionNathaniel Williamson, mercer, elected Alderman in the stead of John Maddock, deceased, (ZA/B/2/193v) and John Wilme, merchant, elected Councilman in the stead of Nathaniel Williamson. They took their oaths and subscribed the declaration.
All tenants of the City whose rents were in arrears were to be distrained.
The fine of £10 imposed on Thomas Hall, gardener, was reduced to £5, and he was to have a lease for three lives or twenty-one years of the house and barn which he had petitioned for at 10s. yearly rent.
George Jackson, spurrier, was to have a lease for twenty-one years of a yard of the row before his house in Foregatestreet for 10s. fine and 3s: 4d yearly rent.
William Mercer, tallowchandler, was to have a fee farm of so much of Northgatestreet before his house as to enable him to make his house uniform with his neighbours, leaving a sufficient row underneath the same, for 40s. fine and 10s. rent.
It was ordered that the encroachment of Asa Andrew, carpenter, by his buildings on the public street at his house in Watergate street should be removed.
John Hulton, shoemaker, chosen one of Vernon's almsmen in the place of Edward Eaton, deceased.
Richard Taylor, the younger, glasier, was to have a fee-farm of the shop lately erected in the Row before his dwelling-house in Bridgestreet and of 2ft. of the street, which he had taken into his cellar, for 20s. fine and 5s. yearly rent.
Richard Wettenhall, sawyer, petitioned for a lease for three lives or twenty-one years of a void piece of ground at the end of Richard Morrey's garden near the City wall, opposite the door leading to the Roodee. The Treasurers were ordered to view the ground.
The petition of William Morgan, administrator of John Ogleby, esq., deceased, desiring some recompense for a book written by Ogleby in 1670, and dedicated to the Mayor and Aldermen, was rejected.
Henry Boulton, feltmaker, Thomas Chritchley, draper, Charles Banner, brewer, (ZA/B/2/194) Edward Streete, brewer, and Samuel Hiccock, innholder, were each to have a portion of £25 of Sir Thomas White's money.
The petition of Edward Walmesley, slater, was read but not granted.
