DescriptionSir Peter Pindar, bart., elected Alderman in the stead of Gawen Hudson, deceased, and Peter Bennett, ironmonger, elected Councilman in the stead of Henry Leckonby, deceased. They took their oaths and subscribed the declaration.
Thomas Warmingham, saddler, elected Leavelooker in the place of Henry Leckonby, deceased.
It was ordered that the differences between the Earl of Shrewsbury and the City concerning encroachments on Hool Heath should be referred to William Williams, Recorder, to determine.
The Mayor and Nathaniel Basnett, executors of Mrs Crosse, deceased, were to have two new lives in their lease for three lives (one of which was yet in being) of the shop under the Pentice in Eastgatestreet, then in the holding of Samuel Kirkes, upholsterer, for £10 fine and the present reserved rent.
The Justices of the Peace and Aldermen, or any seven of them, were ordered to view the ground at the clay pits, lately enclosed by a wall built by the Mayor, and were to report how much he had taken in beyond what was granted to him. They were also to view a place near the bridge at Flookersbrooke and to consider the making of a pit there for fresh water for the City.
The Treasurers were ordered to pay to Randle Minshull, macebearer, £13: 9s: 8d which he had disbursed on (ZA/B/2/195) a suit with Macclesfield about stallage and toll within Chester due to Macclesfield.
Thomas Dod, innholder, petitioned for liberty to enclose the row before his dwelling-house in Northgatestreete and for a lease for twenty-one years. It was ordered that the place should be viewed.
William Welshman the younger, baker, was granted £25 of Sir Thomas White's legacy.
John Williams, innholder, was granted liberty to erect a wall in Dee lane on a parcel of ground in his holding. He was to pay 1s. for twenty-one years.
The petition of the members of the art of Pewterers desiring to be separated from the Corporation of Smiths, Cutlers, Cardmakers and Plumbers, and to be made a distinct Corporation, was read and deferred.
The petitions of Randle Minshull, macebearer, to be restored to the toll of the Bridgegate, and of Charles Boswell, the City paver, to have his salary restored, were read and refused.
