TitleElection of Alderman; levy for fortifications; lease

DescriptionWilliam Parnell elected Alderman in the place of Thomas Knowles, deceased.
Order that £500 should be levied from the Citizens and inhabitants towards making fortifications. William Sparke, Alderman, (ZA/B/2/61v) Randle Holme, senior, Alderman, Richard Broster, Hugh Leigh, John Leckonby and William Whittell were chosen as assessors. William Jones, Owen Hughes, Edward Hulton and Thomas Mottershed were appointed collectors. Order that collectors might distrain the goods of persons refusing to pay the assessment and that any suit resulting should be maintained as a City's cause.
Order that Richard Walton, baker, should have a lease for twenty-one years of a tenement belonging to the City in Gelden Sutton, then in the possession of John Lowe, at the yearly rent of £20.
