| Description | Upon the motion of the Mayor, it was agreed that for the next eight weeks an assessment of £15 weekly should be made and levied from the Citizens and ancient inhabitants, and that £5 weekly should be gathered from those who had taken refuge in the City. The money should be used for the fortification of the garrison and the erection of a draw-bridge at the Bridgegate. |
