Description | The Company of Taylors complained that, although by their charter foreigners were forbidden to work at the trade within the City and suburbs, unless as their servants, yet some persons, encouraged by some freemen, persisted in carrying on this trade in the City. It was ordered, therefore, that freemen or inhabitants who allowed any foreigners to work in their houses at this trade should forfeit 10s. for the first offence, with an additional 10s. for each further offence. The forfeitures should be distributed among the widows and orphans of the Company. |
