Description | Petition of Captain Dutton, one of the City's tenants in Gilden Sutton, stating that he was being sued by the Treasurers for several years rent, and that during the siege he was forced to quit the tenement and join the Parliamentary army where he continued until the City 'was hapily reduced to the Parliaments obedience,' during which time he received little or no benefit from the tenement. He asked that the Treasurers be directed to forbear the prosecution of the suit. Signed 'John Dutton.' Note: that the petition was referred to Messrs. Blease, Holme, Ince and Leicester, Aldermen, to audit the accounts and certify at the next Assembly, meanwhile the petitioner was to pay such sum of money as the Aldermen thought fit, for the use of Mr. Vernon's almsmen. Signed 'W Edwardes Maior, John Ratcliffe, John Dutton.' |
