Description | Petition of John Whittell stating that his father was for several years minister of the gospel at St. John's and lecturer at St. Peter's and he himself is a freeman. He has four small children but he trusted too great a quantity of goods to some chapmen that never paid him, so that for some years his family has been overburdensome to friends. His poverty being known he was appointed Hall-Keeper in place of Mr. John Bennet, deceased, but was asked to pay considerable money to Mr. George Bennet's children, which he borrowed from friends. He asks to be confirmed as Hall-Keeper. |
