That his late father, about 60 years ago, purchased from a Robert Fletcher, Alderman, his interest in a shop and chamber in Northgate Street, between a shop now occupied by John Whittle, shoemaker, and a way leading to St. Peter's Church, and was forced to compound with a Mr. Haughton of Manchester who had a lease for years. That Alderman Robert Sproston, the petitioner's late brother, enjoyed the premises for many years. Since his brother's death he has been tenant paying 40s. yearly rent and £10 arrears.
