Description | Petition of Thomas Worrall, that at the instance of Mr. William Liptrot, Master of the Free School in the City, he engaged to be his usher upon condition he would covenant for a salary of £20 and, if it was not paid by the Treasurer or Trustees for the Commonwealth in full, that the Mayor, Aldermen and 'Common Consell' should pay him what remained unsatisfied by the state. Mr. Leigh, then Mayor, promised the same and Mr. Liptrot wrote him the annexed letter [missing], upon this expectation he undertook the post. He asks an assurance of his salary of £20. Note of order that the City pay yearly to him such money as the state's allowance wants of £20 p.a. |
