Description | Jane Ridge, on her husband's behalf, to Arthur Walley, Mayor of the City of Chester, and the rest of the Justices of the Peace, concerning a suit commenced against her husband by Mr. William Briscow of 50s. for stones delivered for the repair of the City Walls. Her husband received the stones by command of Colonel Croxton (who then commanded here in chief) and her husband did not demand his money while the Colonel was here, and as the stones were for the City's use, she asks justice. Note: 'Referred to the Murengers to examine & certifie to the next Assemblie what quantitie of the said stones have been converted to the Citties use to bee paid for, upon the Citties accompt, to Mr. William Bristow by the Murengers, and for the rest the Cittie shall bee accomptible if the Murengers thinke fitt to make use thereof.' |
