Description | Theodore Hughes, clothworker, was elected one of John Vernon's almsmen, in place of George Robins, shoemaker, deceased. Upon his petition, George Wilson, gentleman, was ordered to be admitted to the freedom, paying £30 to the City Treasurers. He paid and was admitted and sworn. 22 Sept. 1664. Note of proceedings in the Inner Pentice: that Sir Thomas Smith, Bart., who had been elected Alderman at an Assembly on 14th August 1663, in place of Charles Walley, deceased, came before John Poole, Esq., Mayor, and divers Aldermen and Justices of the peace and took the oaths and subscribed the declaration and was sworn, admitted and confirmed as Alderman. |
