DescriptionGiven in draft copy minutes with note 'to be further considered.']. Petition of Josias Little, free-mason and bricklayer, stating that about three years past he worked in the City and set up some furnaces and kilns. As he was a stranger and not working under any of them, the City masons or bricklayers threatened to arrest him and finally forced him to enter into an obligation of £10 with a condition that he would not work in the City. He lived for a time in Salop and then received letters from Alderman Minshull on behalf of the then Mayor, Alderman Street, Mr. Warrington, Mr. Bonnell and others, asking him to work for them in the City. Being indemnified by Alderman Street and Mr. Bonnell, he completed work for them but, before he had finished Mr. Warrington's and Mr. Edward Oulton's kilns, the Company caused him to be arrested and taken to the Northgate for four days, during which time he had three men idle. He asks liberty to follow his employment, that the bond may be cancelled and that the suit cease. Note of voting on motions re the above. He was, apparently, to pay 5s. for every kiln and 22d. for every copper.
