Description | The last stone of the last pinnacle, was formally laid by Dean Howson on Thursday September 22nd 1870 at 2 pm. Miss Maggie Howson spread the mortar and the stone was lowered into its place, when the Dean gave it the necessary taps with the mallet. The party that climbed to the platform round the pinnacle consisted of the Dean, Miss M. Howson, Rev. E.L. Deacle precentor of the Cathedral, The Rev. Fostor - Blackburn Curate of St. Oswalds - General Badeaw New York City- Consul General of the United States, Henry Wade Esq. Cambridge Massachusetts, David Taylor Esq.
