DescriptionThe new Organ placed on the ground floor though incomplete was used for the first time Feb.21.1871. The foundation stone of the Organ Gallery was laid by the Precentor the Rev. E.L.V. Deacle on October 14th 1874. It stands upon a screen composed of sixteen columns of rare Italian marble presented by his Grace the (late) Duke of Westminster. The Choir screen is of English Oak and divides, although it does not separate, the Choir from the body of the Church. It was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott and took the place of an Early Gothic Stone Screen.
