DescriptionThis roof was originally an outside roof with open rafters, subsequently a plaster vaulting was added, and afterwards replaced by oak vaulting, the gift of R. Platt Esq.. The decoration of the roof by Messrs. Clayton and Bell was made a subject of careful thought. The subject in the eastern bays are the sixteen prophets, each with a scroll bearing a sentence in latin from his own prophecies.
